Jeff Metz Receives Prestigious IFMA Silver Plate Award

Jeff Metz, President & CEO of Metz Culinary Management, has been honored as a 2017 Silver Plate Award recipient by the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), which recognizes excellence in eight segments of foodservice operations.

Metz is the third member of his family to receive this prestigious honor – his brother John Metz Jr., CEO, Executive Chef and Co-Founder of Sterling Spoon, won the award in 2013, and his father, John C. Metz, founder and Executive Chairman at Metz Culinary Management, was named an IFMA Silver Plate Award recipient in 1979. The Marriott’s are the only other family with three Silver Plate Award recipients.

“My father started our family legacy of dedicated service in the food industry and it’s overwhelming for me to share this award with my father and brother,” said Jeff Metz. “This award is a reflection of our hard working and dedicated employees, who have built our reputation in the industry and helped grow the business to where it is today.”

As one of the eight Silver Plate winners, Metz will be eligible for the 2017 IFMA Gold Plate Award, which will be announced at the 63th annual Gold & Silver Plate Awards Celebration in May. John Metz Jr. captured the Gold Plate in 2013. The celebration draws hundreds of leading foodservice executives from the supplier and operator communities.

IFMA Gold and Silver Plates have been awarded to legendary operators such as Dave Thomas of Wendy’s (‘79), S. Truett Cathy of Chick-fil-A (’88), Herman Cain of Godfather’s Pizza (’91), Ruth Fertel of Ruth’s Chris Steak House (‘95), Ralph Brennan (’97) and Steve Ells of Chipotle (’03).

A distinguished jury including national trade press editors, foodservice experts, past award winners and the chairperson of the International Gold & Silver Plate Society, weigh the merits of hundreds of candidates nominated by IFMA Members. From among the eight IFMA Silver Plate winners, one is chosen to receive the industry’s most coveted recognition, the IFMA Gold Plate. The jury’s secret ballot is kept confidential until the Gold & Silver Plate Celebration when the Gold Plate winner is announced for the first time.
